Shanita also worked on resolving a high-profile federal government matter that gained national media attention. Shanita’s legal analysis and investigation into the high-profile matter, resulted in agency-wide resolution, disciplinary action for the violating party, and equitable remedies for the aggrieved party.
Shanita is a trained mediator with significant experience mediating workplace conflicts, negotiating wage disputes, and investigating civil rights violations. Shanita maintained a 92% mediation resolution rate, resulting in increased workplace morale and productivity.

As an experienced general counsel and negotiator, he has guided boards of directors through difficult decisions and political candidates to victory.
As a civil rights and human rights attorney, Henry advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion, raising thousands of dollars for scholarships and cultivating employment opportunities for minority law students, and fights to provide access to justice for members of disenfranchised communities.
He has moderated national discussions and testified before congressional and governmental bodies on issues of voting rights restoration, racial equity, and criminal justice reform. Henry has opposed legislation that negatively affect minority communities and supported legislation related to the restoration of voting rights for individuals with felony convictions.
Appointed by D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and confirmed by the D.C. Council, he serves as Vice Chair on the D.C. Commission on Human Rights and is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center.
Henry currently serves in numerous leadership positions, including Past President of the Washington Bar Association, Inc., as Vice President and Co-Chair of the Judicial Nominations Committee for the Washington Council of Lawyers, and is the Immediate Past Vice President for the National Bar Association.
Appointed by the Chief Judge of the D.C. Superior Court, he also serves as a member of its Advisory Merit Selection Panel that assists the Board of Judges in identifying and recommending persons who are best qualified to fill Magistrate Judge vacancies in the D.C. Superior Court.
As a result of his advocacy and community work, he has received numerous awards, including the National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s Junius W. Williams Young Lawyer of the Year Award; the National Bar Association’s Top 40 Under 40: Nation’s Best Advocates Award; the National Bar Association’s President’s Award (2020-2023); the Washington Bar Association’s Lawyer of the Year Award; the National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 Award; and the Daily Record’s Leadership in Law: Generation J.D. Award and its VIP List: Successful by 40 Award, just to name a few.
Henry received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi and his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
